Lagarto is a short drive or a 25 minute walk to the delightful and beautiful cove of el-
Portet beach and Moraira, which is completely unspoilt and undeveloped. Lagarto is
situated in a beautiful valley with stunning views, situated in a very peaceful tranquil
location over looking el-Portet. Moraira's sandy beaches are blue flag, especially suited
for families with lifeguards and a child's play area.

Moraira once a small fishing village and now a sophisticated holiday resort with a
modern Marina, has wide sandy beaches and relaxing palm tree-lined boulevards. An
attractive old castle, lies adjacent to the marina. There are several supermarkets,
banks, a good selection of shops, numerous restaurants, boutiques, pavement cafes,
and not a fast food chain in sight. Friday mornings Moraira has a very popular market,
where there is fresh fruit, vegetables, clothes and all maner of other interesting goods
on sale. Many surrounding towns and villages have markets through out the week.

This region of Spain is famous for its colourful festivals, and markets. One of the best is
the Moors and Christians fiesta in the second or third weekend of June a spectacular
event put on by the town locals, that is something to be enjoyed by all age groups.
Moraira is one of those towns that people, including the local inhabitants, just love to
stroll round and take in its life at any hour of the day.
